Reporting conferences are this week! Students will be dismissed at 12:13 on Tuesday November 20, 2018. If your child rides the bus, the bus will leave the school shortly after 12:13. Please bring your child to the conference as they are a super important part of their own success!
Winter coat exchange: Just a reminder that we will have any of the donated coats out on display during conferences on Tuesday Nov 20. If your child is in need of a winter coat and there is one that fits, please help yourself. Any donated coats are being collected at the office prior to the conferences.
Thursday Nov 22: Hot lunch orders are due to the office.
Coming up: Monday Nov 26 at 2:30 is our PAC meeting.
Hope everyone had a great weekend!
Coming up soon… our reporting conferences! All families should have received a notice at the beginning of November to schedule times to meet with their child and their child’s teacher to set learning goals. The schedule is almost complete and teachers will be confirming times with parents as soon as possible, if they haven’t done so already.
***Reminder! Students will be dismissed at 12:13 on November 20***
Our November newsletter went home last week. Please take a moment to read it as there are a number of important things happening this month.
Parent/teacher/student conferences are happening on November 20. Students will be dismissed at 12:13 on this day. A form went home last week asking all parents/guardians to check off times they are available for conferences on Nov 20. Please return this form quickly as it is first come-first served! These conferences are so important for moving your child’s learning forward.
November 9 is a school day! We will be having our Remembrance day assembly at 10:45 this Friday. Please join us as we pay our respects to those who have served Canada.
Monday November 12 is a holiday.
Tuesday November 13 is a non-instructional day. There is no school for students but all teachers will be engaged in workshops focusing on the renewed curriculum. Specifically, we will be working on our two school goal areas of numeracy and place based learning.
Have a wonderful week!
November? How did that happen???
Lots going on this week:
Monday Oct 29: Month end assembly at 1:30, and a PAC meeting at 2:30 in the library.
Tuesday Oct 30: Cookie dough orders arrive! Please pick your order up starting at 2:00 at the school. These are frozen, and will need to get into freezers relatively quickly. Thank you so much for supporting our school!
Wednesday Oct 31: Halloween! Please remember to leave any weapons (including fake) at home. We have very young students and costumes need to be school appropriate for students as young as 4 to feel safe at school.
HOT LUNCH on Oct 31 is Taco in a Bag. Thank you PAC!
The sugar high of Halloween can certainly be difficult, as all parents can appreciate:) Please limit the treats in the lunch boxes to one or two small items. Also, a big reminder that we have multiple students and staff members who are deathly allergic to nuts and peanuts. Please do NOT send any food containing nuts or peanuts to school. Halloween can be a very difficult time for those with food allergies and we need to be especially aware of what comes into the school. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping all of our people safe.
Friday November 2: Photo retake day.
Toonie Tuesday is October 23. We are hoping to collect a toonie from as many people as possible. Proceeds from Toonie Tuesday are used in two ways: to support local projects and to support Me To We’s work in impoverished areas to provide clean water and education. Please donate what you can, even if it isn’t a toonie:)
Last week was interim report card week. Interims can look different in different classrooms. Some teachers may choose to do open house conferences, others may choose to do a written report, a parent meeting or a phone call. If you haven’t been in contact with your child’s teacher yet, please give them a call at the school at 250.832.3862.
Hot lunch: PAC is holding a hot lunch on Halloween day- the ever favourite “Taco in a Bag”. Orders are due this Thursday October 25, 2018.
Halloween is coming up quickly. We will have a costume parade at the school first thing in the morning on Halloween day (October 31, 2018). We ask that parents check their child’s costume carefully. Fake weapons, blood and gore are too scary for us! Please leave those items at home. Thank you!
Still on the Halloween theme, we just want to remind people that we have a number of students and staff who are really allergic to nuts and peanuts. Please do NOT send any treats containing nuts to school, even if you don’t intend for your child to share them. Even touching surfaces where traces of nut residues remain is enough to cause some of our community members to stop breathing. Thanks for understanding.
Have a wonderful week!
